PROGRAM

Valerie Perry announced that today was the first Student of the Month for this Rotary Year.  The student, Ashley Dias, is a Sophomore at East Providence High School.  Ashley's teacher and soccer coach, Angelo Pizzi, Jr., nominated Ashley for the award.  In his letter, Mr. Pizzi notes that Ashley has a natural competitive spirit, but her commitment to the intellectual side of athletics integrates into the game.  He stated that her lowest grade is a 96 and she assists other girl with academics and mentors younger and less knowledgeable players.  She is an organizer of community service endeavors, i.e., canned food/non-perishable drive, among several other activities. He says she instills passion and confidence in her peers through example, encouragement and enthusiasm.

Ashley stated that she volunteers at the Good Neighbor's Food Pantry and participates in fundraising activities for the school sports.  Ashley is a three season student-athlete.

She was accompanied by her father, Steven, and sister, Erica, as well as Stacie Pizzi, who stood in for her husband, Mr. Pizzi.  East Providence/Seekonk Rotary is proud to add Ashley Dias to the Students of the Month.
