Virtual Meeting
President Betty Galligan opened the meeting at 12:16 p.m. Seven members were present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Betty read a prayer and asked all to pray silently, as today is World Gratitude Day.
The Four Way Test was recited by all.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Board is working on Strategic Planning.
Working on the promotional video for the District Conference, which will be held in person at the Cape Codder from April 30 - May 2, 2021, or virtual, TBD.
Local Theater Company wants our help with pumpkins at the Church of the Epiphany - need help unloading truckload of pumpkins and willing to work at the event
Guests today - Carmen Aguilar, Rotary member of Fall River; and Guest Speaker Erin Gilliatt
Unfortunate news about the Seekonk Speedway event - we are not able to work with them because of the pandemic
October 24, 2020 - World Polio Day
October 17, 2020 - Food Drive -
- Need flyer and banner and Rotary Bling - Betty, Lori, and Valerie are coordinating;
- Steve Propatier will do the PR;
- Bay Coast Bank said ok for the Seekonk location;
- The East Providence Food Drive on the 17th will take place at Mignacca Physical Therapy on Willett Avenue, Riverside from 10AM to 1PM - the proceeds will go to Good Neighbors, Tap-In, and Doorways.
- Need to know who is working at it;
- banners will go up the previous Saturday and it will be promoted that week.
Betty suggested making cards for Veterans' Day for Veterans in nursing homes or elder care. Suggested picking a date to get together to write cards, or find chidren who would be willing to do it. Erin said she can help.
Lori spoke about the Million Mask Challenge - 800,000 masks are coming in for a massive drive throughout New England. Lori is the coordinator for our District. Need volunteers. Masks will be distributed to hospitals, Assisted Living, Schools, First Responders, etc. Our area is scheduled for October 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the State House. Lori suggests wearing Rotary bling for pictures and news releases.
Rotary International is looking for nominations for a Champion of Health - anyone over the age of 18
Youth Exchange has been cancelled for 2020-2021. Will be picked up again in 21-22. They will be looking for host families. Jill Albright is in charge.
Betty suggested setting up a Facebook group East Providence/Seekonk People of Action where we could promote fundraisers or projects requiring help from the public.

Steve Propatier - Didn't take the shingles shot because of the cost - urges everyone to forget the cost because the condition is much worse

Elise - for her birthday tomorrow; for Aldersbridge auction beginning on Friday; happy to be working on a $1 million grant
Rachel Sowersby - baby knows 11 words in sign language and 6 words she can speak
GUEST SPEAKER
Will introduced Erin Gilliatt, Executive Director of the East Providence Boys & Girls Club.
Erin thanked us for our service over the last seven months. She shared a video about the Heads Up Collaboration - Serving kids during the pandemic. She spoke about how the COVID affected the Boys & Girls Club. She said we have an entire generation sharing a pandemic for the first time, since 1918.
