January 20, 2020 Meeting
 
 
The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Betty Gallligan led the singing.  Renate read the prayer, and all recited the Four Way Test.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
The February meetings will be February 10 and 24.
 
Steve Propatier is looking for members for the Scholarship Committee.
 
Betty reported that the North Providence Rotary Club is holding a Comedy Night on February 29 to raise money for Parkinson's Disease.  Tickets are $25 and include a Spaghetti Dinner.
 
There will be a joint meeting with six other Rotary Clubs with a dentist from Milton, MA as the guest speaker.
 
Jennifer Hyde announced that the Brown Physicians Inc. had tickets for a Providence Bruins game with free parking and luxury boxes and she is giving them to the East Providence Boys & Girls Club.
 
 
HAPPY BUCKS
 
Renate Alexander - happy with everyone's company
 
Jennifer Hyde - Happy that she was able to give a little more to the Boys & Girls Club; she is now a paralegal; and happy the daylight is coming back.
 
Rick Fuller - happy to join us today
 
Valerie Perry - $4 Happy and sad bucks - for the speaker; for the transferring member; for the loss of a first cousin; for being asked to co-host the radio show "Service Matters"
 
Bob Curley - happy to be asked to speak today.
 
Betty Galligan - $4 HB - for the guest speaker; for the guests; thanks to the guest speaker, there was an article in the RI Monthly about all the private clubs, including the Hope Club, of which she plays a prominent role; had a wonderful time singing for a program celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.
 
 Steve Propatier  - $4 HB - he and his two brothers and sister meet each week in the month of January for dinner since their mother passed away three years ago. 
 
Rachel Sowersby- very happy to be here.
 
(Lori's friend) - happy to be here and to learn what Rotary is about and hoping to join;
 
Lori DiPersio - $4 HB - went to Houston last week; happy that Roxanne (?) and Rick are here; seeing "The Dream" was over the top and highly recommends anyone interested to find out about it next year; happy that Bob is here today.
 
Steve Henderson - $2 HB  for the speaker and for the weather;
 
Scott Haggerty - great to be here after a couple of crazy months with his schedule; for the guests and speaker;
 
Elise Strom - visited her best friend and his wife, along with their puppy, in their new home;
 
Will Francis- for our guests; for Rick and Roxanne; wedding plans are going well.
 
Tom Foley - feel pretty good after being off for a couple of weeks; his wife just ended up with a sinus infection; put everything together things are looking good!
 
ACE OF SPADES
 
Steve Henderson drew the Queen of Diamonds,  5 of Hearts, missing out on the $389 jackpot.

GUEST SPEAKER
 
Today's Guest Speaker was Bob Curley, author of 100 Things To Do In Rhode Island.  
Bob came to Rhode Island in 1991 and fell in love with the state.  He spoke about his book "100 Things to Do In Rhode Island".  Following his presentation, he signed copies of his book for those purchasing them.
